It certainly has been interesting to watch the Terps playing rotation throughout the year, especially considering their youth. Dupree played a lot at the beginning, and now not so much, Burney and McAlpin have gotten some suprise playing time recently, Ocassional time for Shane Walker, and Tucker and Bowie's seems to go in and out! And Dino Gregory continues to be a no show.
I'm curious what people think of this, and the potential future of this team with these players, as well as the addition of Sean Mosley SF/SG, Gus Gilchrest PF/C and Bobby Maze the Transfer Point Guard.
I agree, I think Dupree has
I agree, I think Dupree has a lot of potential. I think you'll see the Training staff of Maryland work hard with him this offseason and work on his strengh and conditioning. He has such a big body that he can really be a force int the middle. Should be interesting to see What happens to Dino Gregory next year, if he stays on the bench or get more playing time. I assume he'll transfer if next year is the same. From what I hear Gus Gilchrest will be a great post player, and I hear they signed a Korean player for 2009/2010 who has a nice European style game!
Korean Guy/Milbourne
A guy that get can up and down the court at the SF position like this korean guy is definitely something we need...although hopefully Milbourne will become more aggressive and consistent next season. For my money, he can be the most talented player on next year's team if he just puts his head down and gets better. I mean, if he boosted his scoring average by 8 points from one season to the next I think he's only just beginning to scratch the surface of his potential.
Korean guy
Hopefully he doesn't de comit, I always worry about the prospects that commit to early like Zach brown who is now going to attend UNC for football. Does anyone know How the Gus Gilchrest thing is going to go down, I hear He'll probably have to sit out the first Semester next year!
Even though he doesn't play
Even though he doesn't play much now, I think you'll see Braxton Dupree in the starting Lineup next year. There will be a big gap in the front court with the departure of Gist and Boom. We saw glimpses of what he can do against Illinois, and I think Gary likes to play mind games with young players who need to work harder.
It will be interesting to see if Shane Walker develops into anything.
Dupree/Frontcourt/Next year
I see Dupree cracking the starting lineup next year, even though he hasn't done much this year. The Illinois game was a great look as to what he can do; I think he's not playing cause Gary doesn't feel he's aggressive enough, nor in good enough shape. I think what will happen is that Dupree will hopefully undergo a Lonny Baxter like transformation and become more of a factor...I also think Burney will battle Gilchrist for a starting spot; from what I hear Burney can really hold his own in practice, and his post game is obviously a lot more polished than anyone thought.
As for Mosley, I think he'll take time away most from some of the freshman guards, either Bowie or Tucker, whichever one doesn't make big strides. Right now, I see Bowie as the one who will play more; he's been more aggressive on the whole this season, but they both need work.
