This year Tavon broke the career TD record, came within 800 yards of the career rushing record, and was a pivotal part of the highest score in the history of the state championship record. He had 6 INT's, threw for a touchdown, and caught 3 TD passes, and rushed for over 2000 yards. Most of which came within the first half of the games he played. Imagine if he had been allowed to play the entire game in each meeting, his stats would have been off the charts! Tavon undoudtedly demonstrated that atleast this year, he was the most prolific player in high school football, and on his team in their run for a second state championship. This is the essence of what the player of the year award stands for, which player not only had the best stats, but also who had the most impact on his team, and the sport as a whole. Tavon answered all of those questions, and not to take anything away from the talented finalists, but Mr. Austin has been doing this since he was a freshmen. If he doesn't get Player of the Year for 2007, I don't know what else he could do to earn it, except maybe play quarterback, receiver and runningback all at the same time. Oh wait, he's done that!

There were a lot of talented players this year But I think Tavon is nice.

Tavon Austin Hands down, out of respect for other teams, Dunbar had to limit his touches, and he still had 39 Total TDs. I saw him get 3 TDs in the beginning of a game several times, Plus they wanted to work on their passing game as well! He might be the best player to ever come out of Bmore.

We played RH in the playoffs and I will tell you that he is what makes that team run. He cuts off half the field in terms of passing against them or sweeping to his side. On Offense we keyed on him but he was to fast and when we over keyed on him it opened up stuff for the other players. On special teams, he controlled the field position of the game.
